On January 2, 2014, P. Williams, PHS junior, scored her 1,000th point during the last quarter of the competition with the Coal Grove Lady Hornets. Coming into the game, Williams needed 29 points to meet her goal. Williams already held the record for most points scored during a single game (41), and can now add her name to the 1,000 Point Club! To put Williams' accomplishment into perspective, it took Williams 56 games to reach 1,000 points--this would average out to 17.86 points per game. Congratulations, P. Williams! Good luck, and we will keep watching your success!
Over 150 art works were showcased during the 2nd Winter Art Showcase held in the Portsmouth High School library. Students in Mrs. Deacon's Art 1, drawing, sculpture and AP classes displayed works that involved shading and color theory and three-dimensional pieces of clay and sculpture. The art and art club students also collaborated on large scale pop art sculptures. The show had a tremendous turn-out, with students, families and community members enjoying the incredible talent.
